Randomness

Today we had our largest number of views in the past month.  What I do know is that, strangely for a comic that publishes on Mondays, we never get the greatest number of views on Mondays.  I guess everyone is one some other schedule.  The only person I know that tends to check on Mondays is Min because he tends to comment on Mondays.  Looking at the stats plugins I’ve installed, I can’t tell why today had such a spike.  Less than 1/10th of the views came from clicking on a link on another site.  Slightly less than half came from search engines, but nothing out of the ordinary.  I don’t know why I try to figure it out – I’m always puzzled.  I guess it’s because I want as many people as possible to read the comic – after all, that’s why Dan and I spend so much time working on it.

I’m often torn about writing a blog post to go along with the strip.  My urge to blog tends to come in fits and spurts and attempts to force it usually turn out horribly.  I’m also not sure what I’d talk about.  Over at Between Failures he talks about almost anything other than the strip.  The strip is only ever mentioned when he has worked really hard some some technique, panel, or expression and wants to draw attention to it.  In contrast, Geeks Next Door usually talks about something relating to the comic – especially since it’s a biographical comic.  I tend to be torn because previous attempts to blog about a particular strip quickly devolve into explaining the joke and I shouldn’t be doing that.  But I can’t really talk about random stuff either, not unless I’m in the mood to write something.  We’ll see what ends up happening.

I have a guest comic up!

I did a guest strip over at Space Base 8.  It’s a neat comic about an alien base in outer space and the characters that live and work on that base.  It has a great sense of humor, the jokes are family-friendly, and the art style is great.  Go check out my strip (the link in the first sentence) and then go check out the rest of his comic.  I think you’ll have a new comic for your feed reader after that.

A New Advertising Partner

Hey INM Readers!

We just added some ads from Project Wonderful.  The reason I am running those ads (as well as some Google Adsense Ads) is to try and help defray my hosting costs.  I respect your decision to use ad blockers, but if you could please put in an exception for this site, that would be oh-so-cool.  I chose to approve ads before they appear, so I won’t let any super-annoying ones through.  Thanks for helping us out with that!

Updates on Some of My Favorite Webcomics

Some quick updates on some of my favorite updates:

Masago finally has a new strip posted!  It’s a shame that Dave Kwan is so busy, because I was really into the unique story – I mean, how many webcomics are about restaurants?  Let’s hope he can get some strips out on a more regular schedule now!

Jackie over at Between Failures has a post on the Boobquake movement.  Apparently, some guy in Iran believes that all the recent earthquakes are caused by women dressing provocatively.  Of course, this is pretty ridiculous, but we have stuff like that in this country – some religious fanatics who think gay rights are the reason for 11 Sept.

The husband and wife team over at Geeks Next Door recently released a book with their first year’s worth of strips.  If you aren’t already reading GND, and you’re into D&D, Cosplay, and other topics of geekery, be sure to check them out.

Finally, a little update on this site – with things really picking up here on I’m Not Mad, I’ve been going through the website and fixing things up in preparation for an ad blitz.  So, if you visit the site instead of reading via RSS, you might see some changes over the next few weeks as I tweak things on the website in an effort to get it just the way I want it.  I’ll be messing about with the CSS so there might be tiny glitches, but I’ll probably notice it right away, so if you see something weird, it probably won’t last too long.

Missed it by THAT MUCH

Unfortunately, I didn’t get today’s comic up in time.  Between the tons of house stuff we did this weekend (mostly yard work) and my recent addiction to Plants vs Zombies, I didn’t get enough time to finish it up.  I’ll have it up for next Monday and then there’ll probably be another break because April is about to get really busy for me.  But I’ll try to be on time as much as possible.
