Strange Employee Behavior

I was reading through Masago and I came across this strip. (Or click on the image to see it full size)
The funny thing is that this happened to me one time. I was a supervisor and this guy kept begging me to let him off early because there wasn’t enough work to be done. It was true, so I went ahead and let him off early. About half an hour later he comes back dressed up as though he’s going to have a fun night out on the town. Only he hangs around until the end of the shift. Why? He was bored – it was too early to go do whatever it was he had planned to do.
