According to “Power Up: How Japanese Video Games Gave the World an Extra Life” (p17) Steve Jobs created Breakout! That’s right, that wonderfully addictive game, second only to Tetris for most, was created by the man who created Apple, NextStep, Pixar (via financing), and the iPod. Is there anything the black turtle-neck clad man hasn’t had his finger in?

DO NOT UPGRADE! There are many reasons, but here are the most important ones - Norton Antivirus does NOT work with Vista as of now. It will make some graphics and sounds cards work at reduced capacity. Finally, they are ALREADY talking about a Service Pack 1 - meaning there are flaws they know about. Wait until those flaws are fixed. Service Packs mean big flaws, not little ones as are in every piece of software.

Had a small outage last night after I switched to a new router. Took some time for the DNS tables to catch up.

First they release news that Barack Obama went to school in a madrassa in Indonesia. When CNN decides to do some research and proves that it’s just a public school, Fox comes out and shows their anti-muslim racism outright.

From ThinkProgress.org we get this transcript:

GIBSON [W]hat did they see when they went to the madrassa where Barack Obama went to school?

HOST: Kids playing volleyball.

GIBSON: Playing volleyball, right. They didn’t see them in any terrorist training camps?

HOST: No.

GIBSON: No. Um, but they probably didn’t show them in their little lessons where they’re bobbing their heads and memorizing the Koran.

WTF is that? They didn’t show them bobbing their heads and memorizing the koran? How much more racist can you get! First of all, he’s being disrespectful. How would he react if someone said, “in that Christian school they didn’t show them sitting up and down and reciting the Bible” and then equating it to terrorism. Because first he asks if there are any terrorist camps and then askes about the Koran - as if every muslim was a terrorist. This is complete BS! Every time I think I know how racist Fox News is, they just push it to another level.

I’ve been too busy to write recently; even though I have so much to write about. It’s quite annoying.

There’s a lip dubbing challenge going on at Vimeo.com. I would have called it a fan video - basically people are making music videos to their favorite songs and, instead of attacking us with their horrible singing skills, they are dubbing the song over their own voices. I hope to have my own up soon. There’s one I’ve had the idea to do for about 4 years now. I used to daydream about doing it while walking through Cornell campus and listening to the song. I just knew I could make a good video for it. After seeing the real music video recently - I know mine will be more accurate to the song.

I’ve seen a LOT of good uploads on Vimeo. However, this one is one of the best. It’s by a user named charliesteadman from Massachussetts, USA. Enjoy!

I’ve written before about how my interests tend to go in cycles. I haven’t played Sims 2 or Civ 4 in ages. In fact, since getting to work after Christmas Break I haven’t really taken many photos either. I became consumed with Blender and getting my animations done. Then Vimeo raised the upload limit from 30 mb to 250 mb and I suddenly had to digitize all those video clips I”d been waiting forever to digitize. Here’s a video Vimeo asked us to make - they said to make a video celebrating the increase.

And so I have spent the past week or so working on digitizing, editing, and uploading videos. My animation and photography went on hold. And I used to be really into video in high school and the beginning of Cornell. However, I
